App Review: Tiny Striker World Football

Myles Difilippo

Tiny Striker: World Football is a fairly new soccer game app which was released in August 2016. This game can be played by the most avid soccer fan or the typical person that just wants to kill time while in school or at work. The game is only available on iOS and Android phones.

The company Fat Fish Games Ltd has produced a lot of other good games for phones and the trend continues with this game which most would say is very high quality. Billy Goode ‘18 says “it’s a cool game. It’s really well made and visually appealing and visually appealing and overall fun to play.” Kacper Sobotka ‘18 also said “it’s a quality game” but, “the gameplay gets boring after a while.”

So let’s dive in. The game has the user create an avatar for themselves and that avatar is featured as the shooter of the ball in each soccer match they play. As far as the options go for the creation of an avatar, the user only gets to choose skin color, hair color, and the name of the player, which one could say is pretty limited, but the main focus of the game is not how the avatar looks. The game allows the user to choose his or her team and a sponsor for the avatar. However, in order to be placed with an excellent sponsor and well-known team, the user must play a hefty amount of coins, which can be kind of tedious for the user because it can take a while to collect the amount one needs. Yes, the coins are easy to collect because the user receives the coins after every game they play and from their sponsor if the user completes the challenge, but little coins are offered per game.

The game also offers the user the opportunity to upgrade their avatar’s power and curl skills (Up to level 100) which only takes a little bit of wait time for the initial levels, but once the avatar gets past level twenty or so, the wait time for just one level up can be a whole day or longer. A suggestion would be to just to keep the users playing and not get annoyed at how much time they have to wait, is make the levels go up by two or three if, in fact, it does have to take a certain amount of days to level up. However, it is very easy to navigate throughout the app for when the user wants to play a game or upgrade their avatar or buy power ups.

The gameplay itself is very easy. All the user has to do is run their finger across the screen in the direction in which they want the ball to go. The game does get more difficult as one moves further up in leagues because more and more defenders are added to the field, creating more obstacles for the ball to get in the goal. However, the user has to continue to score goals throughout each game because there is a meter at the top of the screen that keeps track of a win, draw or loss.

Overall this game gets a 4 out of 5 stars. This game can compete against all the other soccer-playing games out there is a great game to kill time with and it appeals to a lot of people. Although the game can get old and less engaging as one keeps playing it much like an anonymous app reviewers statement of “I do not feel any motivation to keep winning leagues” however, he still says “[g]reat game guys!”
