When we say “Number,” you say “One!”

On Dec. 12, the WY Varsity Cheer Team participated in the City-wide Cheer Competition at Little Village High School. The team worked for months to perfect their performance before the big day; late night and weekend practices helped to ensure their routine was in prime condition.

On the day of the competition, the team went out on the floor and showed off all they had.

“We went out there and did our best, we just had to slay. We put our all into it because we were hungry to win,” Keia Phian ‘16 explained.

WY came out on top and secured a first place win, beating out heavy competition from Walter Payton, Northside, and Solorio.

“We put in all the work and we deserved that win that we took,” Captain, Kendall Johnson ‘16, said as she continued on to explain their high hopes and expectations for other upcoming competitions.

Be sure to come out and support the Cheerleaders at their next competition, Sectionals, coming up on Jan. 30 at the U.S. Cellular Coliseum.
