“She Kills Monsters will keep you on your toes every second” – Jacob Kayser, ‘17

Over the years, the Young Company has come out with some phenomenal plays, each one special from the other. However, never has the school play been more unique than She Kills Monsters. Written by Qui Nguyen, this action packed play takes place in Athens, Ohio in 1995. It follows a young woman named Agnes Evans (played by Amanda Hoyne, ‘16), who leads an unsatisfyingly normal life, and couldn’t be bothered to pay attention to her kid sister, Tilly (Margaret Smith, ‘19). The audience quickly discovers Agnes’ parents and sister died in a car crash three years previous to the start of the show. While packing up her old house, Agnes finds a Dungeons and Dragons module that Tilly left her, and through it, Agnes gets a brief look into her sister’s life. Filled with hot elves and demon queens, evil cheerleaders, and crazy guidance counselors, She Kills Monsters uses a quirky sense of humor to discuss topics such as bullying, sexuality, and “nerd” culture, all in a high school setting. This geeky must-see opens Friday, December 4th at 7PM, and continues to run Saturday, December 5th at 2pm and 7pm, Wednesday, December 9th at 5pm, Thursday December 10th and Friday December 11th at 7pm, and Saturday, December 12th at 2pm and 7pm. (Tickets are $8, $10 at the door)
