The boys Golfin’ Dolphins have reached the end of the road for the 2017-2018 season.

On Monday, October 9, 2017, the team played in the State Sectionals in Winnetka, but, unfortunately, did not advance to go downstate. Although they had a great year, earning a Downstate berth, the ultimate goal for the team, especially Cole Hyland, the coach of the boys Golfin’ Dolphins. Coach Hyland said, “Going downstate is my goal every year. I know we have the talent so all we need to do is stick it through and overcome our challenges of getting downstate.” After going undefeated in the City and qualifying to advance to State Sectionals by winning State Regionals, the team had a great season but it ended a bit too early.

The team says goodbye to three seniors, reducing the team to 8 people. John Griffin ‘18, Isaiah Holmes ‘18, and Patrick Timlin, ‘18, have had the time of their lives while playing on the varsity golf team. John Griffin, ‘18, said, “It is a bittersweet moment seeing that my time as a high school golfer is over. Even though this is the end, I am very proud of the team and all that we have accomplished throughout my years as a Golfin’ Dolphin.”

Next season, be sure to watch out for Thomas Hayes, ‘19, and Sam Mortell, ‘21, as they hope to lead the Golfin’ Dolphins to another victory and have the first pep rally for golf!
