Juul is a type of electronic cigarette, but not just any e-cigarette; it’s the most popular brand out there. The manufacturers of Juul have said countless times that it is intended for adult use only, and for smokers who seek a healthier alternative or a means of quitting. However, due to its sleek design, small size, easy concealability from teachers and parents, and flavors that are attractive to teenagers such as mint, crème brulee and mango, it has become one of the biggest trends of 2018.

Many students at Whitney M. Young Magnet High School agree that they shouldn’t be used by students. “They’re dumb, the United States almost ended teen smoking just for us to get hooked on USBs,” said Eileen Cendejas ‘19.

While there students who actively speak out against the use of these USB-looking vaping devices, others like Braulio Cornejo ‘19 agree while poking fun at the subject with a satirical remark: “I personally think that it’s probably not a good idea to get addicted to sucking on a flash drive filled with nicotine, but it makes for funny jokes so go for it.”

An anonymous student jokingly said “We should remove the toilets from the Juul room,” While students seamlessly make jokes about something that can be so life-changing, they all agree that Juuls are not beneficial in the slightest. If there is anything to take away from this is, don’t be that fool, don’t Juul in school (or anywhere), don’t let your life go up in smoke.
