Humans have used plastic waste and smoke emissions since the 20th century, but this comes with a price. According to Time, “rapid, far-reaching and unprecedented changes in all aspects of society” are necessary to prevent the world from reaching a worldwide climate catastrophe. By 2030, the world population must cut back carbon dioxide emissions by fifty percent or else we will experience extreme weather swings with heavy floods and extreme heat.

Carla Gonzalez ‘19 believes “The world goes through different stages and while the situation may look bad now, I believe things would get better with time and awareness.” Jada Sardin ‘19 has a more negative approach, saying “We messed up the world and we might not be able to save it.”
