After winning the state championships last year, the Whitney Young Girls Tennis Team has come back this year working extremely hard. The girls’ close bonding and large amount of support for each other has brought them together to play more as a team. “The varsity tennis team has been so strong these past few years. I feel very confident that number one singles and number one doubles will do well in city this weekend,” notes Beth Waller ‘19. As a result of their determination, the tennis team has won most of their tournaments and will face their next match today and tomorrow at XS Tennis.

The girls are looking forward to the matches this weekend as well. Varsity player Lauren Williamson ‘19 was asked on how she feels about the upcoming matches and she said, “I’m really excited to play in the city tournament and win for the 4th time in a row.” The team has been massively improving throughout the past years leading them to the state tournament win in 2017 so we know that the girls are going to make Whitney Young proud. “I can’t wait to find out how the girls do at the city championships. I know that they will do so well,” Kristin Reid ‘19. The team made history last year by winning state and hope to do the same this year. With their season ending soon, now is the time to come and support the team!
