From not having a team and a cancelled season last year to coming back this season with a current record of 5-0, the Whitney Young football team has made a big come back. Having to cancel the season last year due to the lacking number of individuals on the team (only having 19 despite the CPS requirement being 22), the team dropped down a few divisions.  After hiring a new coach, Coach Mallette, and having a team roster of 32, they have been having a great season. The question many are asking is whether or not this winning streak will continue, and if so, for how long? Akil Mitchell ‘19, a running back on the team, believes with the new coach, “they will get far.”

Students have mixed responses as to whether or not they believe the team will win continue with this streak. Dakari Thomas 19’ believes that our team will “Whitney it up” and face a loss at their upcoming game at Woodlawn. Another student, Deja Jackson 21’ believes “we have a good chance to win, especially with the way the team has been winning”. In the game, we will be playing against Woodlawn in an away game at 12:00pm.  Will Whitney Young’s Football Team have a perfect record this season? Will we win our upcoming game?
