Since the 19th century, homecoming has been around to celebrate the existence of schools and institutions around the world. This year, Whitney Young continues the tradition on Friday, September 28th, with the Dolphins taking on DuSable High School at Rockne Stadium. The team is extremely excited to show the rest of the school exactly what they’ve been working towards all summer.

So far this season the football team has gone undefeated, opening up their season with a 49-0 win against Kennedy High School. Ever since then, the team has learned to give up on their past, and put their all into a new culture, a new hope, a new team.

This year’s homecoming should be an exciting one. Caitlin Smith ’19 says, “I mean, it’s  decent or whatever,” regarding her pure excitement for the occasion. The team is going into the game with humble confidence, knowing they can rely on their roster time and time again. In their most recent game, starting quarterback Miles Wagner ‘19 threw for a total of 287 yards, which paired nicely with junior Defensive Linebacker Amir Abdullah’s ‘20 8 solo tackles, leading them to their 4th victory.

These past few weeks have been challenging with the injuries of a few key playmakers, and it would have raised  concern; until now. For Homecoming, almost the entire roster is ready to fight for the win. “After all the work we’ve put in this summer, we’re ready to get the [wins],” says Miles Wagner ‘19.
