The Whitney Young Girl’s Swimming and Diving Team takes on Lane Tech

The Whitney Young Girls Swimming and Diving team has already competed four times and have gone undefeated in the Chicago Public School’s Conference. Last week, September 14th the girls swam against Lincoln Park and Latin and this week September 20th the girls swam against Von Steuben. Next week, Thursday, September 27th the girl’s team will be taking on the Lane Tech Girls Swimming and Diving team.

For the past three years, the Whitney Young Girl’s team has been able to beat Lane Tech during the regular season, and Lane has been able to come out on top and win the City Championships. The Whitney Young girls team is hoping for a change this year.

Senior Co-Captain and record holder in the 500 yard freestyle, Annika-Chrobak Prince ‘19 was asked her thoughts about how the meet was going to go, and she stated “ We hope to beat Lane Tech for the third time in a row next week!” Fellow Senior Co-Captain, Cassi Chung ‘19, also a record holder in the 100 yard butterfly was asked her thoughts about how the meet was going to go and she replied, “As our second to last home meet with championship season is around the corner we are excited to get up and race against Lane Tech.” Newcomer Daphne Yu ‘22 also said, “I think that we can win.”
