Dolphins Win Versus Lane

The Whitney Young Men’s Lacrosse team played Lane Tech on Tuesday May 1st.  After going down to Lane in a quick 2 goal succession, the Dolphins battled back to tie the game 2-2 before halftime.  After halftime, the Dolphins started getting rolling, never losing the lead throughout the rest of the game. Right as the energy in the game was peaking towards the final minute of time, the lights went out at Lane Tech stadium according to the 9:30 timer on the lights.  However, instead of the referees conceding the game as the score at that point was 8-4 Dolphins, the referees and coaches decided to wait the 20-25 minutes until the lights came back on. During the timeout, Senior Surya Lemke ‘18 tried to keep the Dolphins warm having everyone go on a run to stay loose.  The team then proceeded to sing “Hooked on a Feeling” by Blue Swede as they ran the lap to keep spirits high. Senior Surya Lemke ‘18 commented after the game “ We don’t know why we sang that song specifically, it just felt right”. One of the senior captains Jake Reichl ‘18 (Walter Payton) started the chant “ LTK LTK LTK” as they walked off the field, victorious, and in high spirits as city playoffs loom around the corner.
