The Taste of Whitney Young

It’s that time of the year, Dolphins! As second semester winds down and summer grows nearer, the Taste of Whitney Young is in clear view. If this is your first year at Whitney Young, you might be asking yourself “What on earth is the Taste of Whitney Young?” Well, it is similar to the Taste of Chicago. It is a day where all the clubs and organizations of Whitney Young set up their booths and tables underneath the gym bridge. Each booth sells a different kind of food or treat. Tyler Beard ‘20, a member of the Varsity Boys’ Basketball Team, said “The Taste is definitely my favorite day of the year because I love getting the chance to try all types of foods from the different clubs. My favorite foods at the Taste are fruit from Guys and Dolls and Chinese food from Asian American Club.” I am sure many of our students love these same tables as well.

I wanted to get a sneak peek into what food we should be expecting this year from other clubs. Keyshawn Aytch ‘19, the manager of the Varsity Boys’ Basketball Team, shared “The Boys’ Basketball Team is very excited to be serving nachos at this year’s taste!” Madeline Mortell ‘18, the Varsity Girls’ Golf Captain, mentioned “The Girls’ Golf team is selling golf ball shaped cake pops!” These are wonderful treats to look forward to and there are plenty more from other tables! So, whether this is your first or last Taste of Whitney Young, make sure you don’t miss it on May 30!
