Senior luncheon recap

Eric Catania

Aside from moving on from high school, getting good grades, and graduating, senior year is all about celebrating the end of your journey as a 12th grader. Part of that celebration at Whitney Young includes a senior luncheon, which happened on the 10th of April.

This year’s luncheon trip was on a cruise ship, the Spirit of Chicago, one of Navy Pier’s most popular boats. The seniors were able to enjoy a wonderful all-you-can-eat lunch, as well as time on Lake Michigan to admire the view, dance and take pictures. There was some worry about the weather leading up to the trip, but there ended up being clear skies for most of the ride. Ellavieve McCarthy ‘18, who took part in the trip, said, “Even though it was a bit chilly, it was wonderful considering the snow that had just fallen a day before.”

Some seniors did not attend because they were not sure if the price was worth it. Although it is too late for them, it is not too late for those who will be seniors next year. Nathan Leung ‘18 has some advice for the juniors this year: “Make sure you go to every event you can, because even if you don’t think you will like it, you should still take every chance you get to spend with the senior class before you all have to separate.” Next on the list for seniors is prom in a few months, so start getting your plans ready now!
