Grad Nite at Six Flags Great America

One of the events our seniors at Whitney Young are looking forward to is ‘Grad Nite’ at Six Flags Great America on May 15th, 2018! This is a student planned event that multiple Chicago public and neighboring suburban schools participate in. On this day, only seniors can enter the theme park and enjoy the thrilling rides and the carnival games ‘after hours’ meaning in the dark from 7pm-2am. Three of our seniors: Ellie Lynch, Jamie Su and Hannah Hawkins ’18 were the ones who put the event together. Their estimated cost for entry to the park, all-you-can-eat dinner and a bus ride there and back is $75. This may seem like a lot of money to spend on one night but alum Yazmin Hernandez had this to say on her experience from going last year: “It was definitely the most memorable night of my senior year. The lines were short so my friends and I were able to ride every ride twice. It may seem expensive but it’s actually a great deal as a one day ticket on a normal day is $60.” Our 2018 seniors are looking forward to attending and were glad someone stepped up to plan it as it is a lot of work to accommodate for 500 students. Hannah Hawkins explains why she chose to plan this event; “I just saw how much fun my senior friends from last year had and I didnt want our class to miss out on that just because nobody wanted to be in charge of it.” The $75 can be paid one of the three seniors from now until April 13th! Make sure to not miss out on what could be one of the most fun  days of the year!!
