Lil Boat 2

This album is the one that I have most anticipated so far in 2018. Lil Yachty has always been one of my favorite artists, but after his last album Teenage Emotions, I was disappointed and I started to reevaluate how good Lil Yachty actually is. When I heard Lil Boat 2 was dropping soon, I immediately re-listened to Lil Boat which is my favorite mixtape by Lil Yachty and what launched his hip-hop career. I expected Lil Boat 2 to meet the bar set by Lil Boat, and Lil Yachty did just that.

Lil Boat 2 is my favorite album of the year so far. It is much more complex than Lil Boat and shows Lil Yachty’s growth as an artist. I particularly enjoy that Yachty challenges himself with very difficult beats to rap over, yet he makes it work. For example, the songs Das Cap, Get Money Bros, and OOPS  all use very challenging beats but are some of the best songs on the album.

The features on this album really push this album over the top. Artists like 2 Chainz, Tee Grizzley, Quavo, Offset, and Trippie Redd all collabed with Yachty to create some hit songs on this album. My 2 favorite songs on the album are BOOM! and NBAYOUNGBOAT  involving features with Ugly God and YoungBoy Never Broke Again respectively.

I am not the only one who was impressed with this work however. Some fans said:

“I was thoroughly surprised by how Yachty has matured as an artist.” -Kyle Truevillian ‘18

“This album is hot and it’s a vibe. It plays to both moods: turnt up and chill.” -Sentwali Nalls ‘19

Lil Boat 2 is now available on nearly all music platforms, so I greatly encourage you to look into it. If you are a Yachty fan then you will love it. If you aren’t then I promise you will be. Don’t forget to check out C Love’s Suggestion of the Week below.
