“Come try out for Din Daa Daa!”

If you have ever participated in or have attended the Whitney Young Dance Department’s spring concert, then I am sure you have seen “Din Daa Daa”. Din Daa Daa is a modern/jazz dance that was choreographed by a Whitney Young dancer in 1989. Due to the dance being such a crowd pleaser, the dance department decided to make it an annual tradition in the show. Since there are limited spots in the dance, each year dancers must audition to be in the piece. Dancers in any level of the department are allowed to audition. This year, the Guys and Dolls Captain, Brooke Gist ‘18, is leading the audition. Gist had this to say about the process, “I think everyone should come and try out because it’s a really fun dance and even if you don’t make it in, you will still have fun while learning it.”

I ran into some young dancers in the department who are planning on trying out. Paige Prather ‘22, a first year member of Guys and Dolls, said “I can’t wait to try out for Din Daa Daa because I’ve heard so many good things about the audition and I loved watching the dance from the audience last year.” If any of you are as excited as Paige please come try out it’s a lot of fun! I have been in Din Daa Daa for two years now and I can’t wait to see the new faces at the audition!
