The last time we checked in on the Ballin’ Dolphins was before they played the final four game against Simeon Career Academy on February 16, 2018. Unfortunately, they lost to the Simeon Wolverines with a score of 53-64. Since that loss took them out of the talk for City Champions, they had to wait 11 days to start the IHSA Class 4A State Playoffs.

The first state playoff game was against Cicero Morton at St. Joseph High School on February 27, 2018. The Dolphins won with a score of 73-61. Senior forward, Jake Kosakowski, finished with 15 points, sinking 3 three-point shots, 6 rebounds, and 4-4 from the free throw line. Senior guard, Javon Freeman, finished with 14 points, 10 rebounds, and 5 assists. Junior guard, Myles Baker, had 14 points, 4 rebounds, and 2 assists. Sophomore guard, Tyler Beard, had 12 points, 5 rebounds, and 3 assists. This win allowed them to advance to the Regional Championship game. Javon Freeman said, “Although the outcome resulted in a win, we have to get better as a whole to win our next games and advance downstate.”

The second state playoff game was against St. Joseph at St. Joseph High School on March 2, 2018. The Dolphins were victorious over the St. Joseph Chargers with a score of 67-50. Javon Freeman was the leading scorer with 25 points, 8 rebounds, and 5 assists. Tyler Beard had a great game a well with 12 points, 5 rebounds, and 3 assists.

Their most recent victory over St. Joseph permitted them to move on to the Sectional Semifinal game on March 7, 2018 at Riverside Brookfield High School. The Ballin’ Dolphins will compete against the Lincoln Park Lions for the second time this season. The last time they played them, the Dolphins lost by 5 points in double overtime. Myles Baker said, “I really look forward to playing them again because we have two of our key players back that did not play in the first game against them.” If the Dolphins are victorious, they will advance to the Sectional Championship on March 8, 2018 at Riverside Brookfield High School.
