4) Skinny Girl Diet

Skinny Girl Diet are a duo (formerly trio) who have been performing together since they were 12. In that time they’ve created some heavy, emotionally charged, and unforgettable tunes. They, along with every other artist on this list, are known for speaking out against sexism and lack of female representation in parts of the music industry.

5) Girlpool

When you’re tired of whiny pop punk dudes, Girlpool is the perfect antidote. The third duo on this list, known for quiet but dynamic songs with gorgeous harmonies. The band’s early work is just guitar bass and vocals, and pure emotion feeds an electrifying sound. Guitar player Shania Haynes ‘18 says their live performances are “tasty”. Their newest album includes the addition of drums and a second guitar which allows for a whole new dimension of dynamic performance.

6) Screaming Females

An obvious choice for a list about female vocalists who will scream at you, Screaming Females are everything their name implies and so much more. As a trio headed by frontwoman, vocalist, and shredder Marissa Paternoster this band will rip your face off, it’s just that good. If you’re ready for a vocalist who can sing sweet sweet melodies and then knock you off your feet with unexpected power and volume, then go give Screaming Females a listen.
