Winter is the coldest season of the year, after autumn and before spring. In the Northern Hemisphere, Winter begins on December 21st, 2017. Within this season, students are granted the most wonderful time of the school year- winter break. Although we cherish these two relaxing weeks, it can sometimes be boring. Gabriel Regalado ‘19 says, “I get so much sleep during break, but once I’m caught up on sleep, it is so boring. I just sit and watch Netflix all day long.” Lisa Mei ‘18, on the other hand, thoroughly enjoys this time to catch up on her favorite shows. She says, “I cannot wait for break. I am immediately going home and binge-watching Grey’s Anatomy.” Whether you are in indoors or outdoors person, these are the 5 top activities to do this winter, taken from a survey answered by Whitney Young students. You can go ice skating at Millenium Park, visit ZooLights at Lincoln Park Zoo, take a trip to the Museum of Science and Industry for their Christmas Tree exhibit, have a holiday movie night, and, finally, go shopping for last-minute holiday gifts. As we countdown these last few days before winter break, start scheduling your plans. Happy Holidays!
