What to do over winter break

Eric Catania

As you all know, winter break is coming soon. Although it is always great to get out of school and relax from all the stress, break can sometimes be boring if you do not have anything to do. However, luckily for you, there are plenty of things you can go out and do alone or with others in Chicago to enjoy the holidays.

A classic for many Chicagoans is to go to Lincoln Park Zoo Lights. More than just the enjoyment of a normal zoo with all of the exotic animals, the whole place is lit up with Christmas lights and much more. There is music playing, hot chocolate to drink, and ice sculptures being created. Speaking of the other things you can enjoy, Lavinia Huang ‘18 said “the hot chocolate is amazing, and so are the churros. You have to try it.”

Another activity famous everywhere during the holidays is ice skating, and out of the best rinks is just outside the city. Frozemont, an ice skating rink in Rosemont, IL, is a great environment and is a wonderful outdoor experience. Admission into the rink is free, but if you need to rent skates, they are $8. I highly recommend this spot, as ice skating is always a great way to pass time.

Beyond ice skating and Zoo Lights, Chicago is full of fun and creative things to do in the winter. Activities range from plays at theaters to special events at Navy Pier. Whether it be outside or in the comfort of your room, enjoy your winter break and all that comes with it.
