Girls Basketball

The Girls Varsity Basketball team is three weeks into their game season. They are a young team with only two seniors on the roster. They currently have a record of 7-2 overall and 6-0 in conference. With the new conference format they are only playing each team one time. This coming Tuesday, December 19, they will travel a few blocks away to take on the Commandos at Marshall. This is a long time rivalry. The girls only two losses were by 6 and 9 points to Homewood Flossmoor and Proviso East respectively. In both games the other team made a lot of free throws and we did not shoot the ball very well. They bounced back from the loss to Proviso East the following night by destroying Champaign Urbana by over 40 points. The girls will finish the 2017 year with a trip to Eastside Prep in Palo Alto, California. They will play top teams from California and have a chance to visit the Bay area. When asked about the expectations of the team this year, Coach Irvin said “I think we are starting to understand what we need to do in order to win games which should show as the season progresses.”
