Chicago is known for being the town for foodies. Not only is our city filled with great restaurants, but it also has a wonderful collection of cafes and drink bars that feature both unique and classic beverages. The Beacon has talked to a few students about their favorites. Haley Wellman 18’ explains that the Bourgeois Pig Cafe takes the classic and executes it so well.” The Lincoln Park based cafe is popular for their Jamaican latte, a caffe latte topped with honey, allspice, and whipped cream. Bombo Bar, a casual walk-up eatery in the West Loop, is known for their outrageous “hotter chocolates.” They feature two unique flavors. Funfetti, with hot white chocolate, whipped cream, sprinkles, funfetti shortbread, and a vanilla donut. As well as,  S’mores, with hot milk chocolate, toasted marshmallow fluff, chocolate biscotti, and a chocolate donut. It’s definitely the place to go if you are looking for a sweet treat. If you aren’t in such a sweet mood, Portage Park’s Tea’se Tea Shop’s matcha infused teas will definitely lift your spirits. Choose any tea in the store and you can top it off with a creamy shot of matcha! If you want a fancy experience, Bittersweet Pastry’s European style cafe is the perfect destination. They serve a simple, decadent hot chocolate that you can garnish yourself. Of course, it is made with bittersweet chocolate and a slight orange flavor, for a beverage that won’t give you a toothache. Ellie Lynch 18’ raves about the cafe that is conveniently located in Blue House, saying “I heard it’s the hip new place to be. It’s always bustling!” They are famous for their affordable coco-coffee, a mix between hot chocolate and coffee. Chicago is filled hidden cafes with unique drinks that you just have to try!
