Following Complex Con there has been a sneaker frenzy. There have been hyped releases dropping left and right. Starting off November there was an Air Force 1 collection exclusive to Complex Con that featured collaborations with Don C, Rocafella, Travi$ Scott, & more. Following that release there also was the announcement of the official release of “The Ten” collection. The collection featured what could possibly be the best sneaker of 2017, the Jordan 1, where it used the Chicago colorway and new materials. The shoe was also worth at least $1000 following the instant sell out. Personally I was lucky enough to win the vapormax from that collection through an in-store raffle. Receiving any shoe from the collection would be considered fortunate because they all had resale value and debatably are good looking sneakers. That weekend also featured the most limited Yeezy V2 released in the Yebra colorway. In my opinion the shoe is hideous but the shoe is so successful due to the supply and demand.

In the week following the impressive month of Complex Con, there were four Pharrell Human Race sneakers that released. In the sneaker community the Pharrell Human Race model is highly sought after and people were glad because the shoe was made more available than previous releases. There was another Pharrell Human Race that was a collaboration with Chanel that released only in France. The retail price of the shoe is $1,160 but the resale value is at least 8 times as much. The following weekend another yeezy sneaker released which gave sneaker lovers mixed feelings because they were the most accessible yeezy ever causing them to also be the least valued. On top of that, they restocked on November 30th on adidas.com.

Sneaker enthusiast Emeka Anosike ‘18 was lucky enough to win a pair of the Kaws x Jordan IV. Emeka said “I’m not sure how I won the shoe, I honestly thought that I couldn’t win a pair because I didn’t have a sneaker bot to help secure the shoe in my cart faster. This definitely has to be my favorite cop of the year.” The shoe features high quality suede, Kaws embossed branding, and a glow in the dark outsole. It’s retail to resale comparison is 5 times as much as the regular pricing. Emeka and others who received the opportunity to get the pair are very lucky because Kaws ran a 15 minute raffle on their website and people from all over the world were entering the raffle for such an amazing shoe.

To cap off the month the AF100 collection was released which featured signature styles collaborated with some influential people/brands in the sneaker world. The collection consists of the Rocafella Air Force 1 Low, Just Don Air Force 1 High, Travis Scott Air Force 1 Low, and the Acronym Lunar Force 1 Low. William Jamison, Whitney Young ‘18 said “The Travis Scott’s are my favorite pair. I personally want to win them so I can resell them because they have pretty good resale value and I could use the money to buy some Christmas gifts.” I don’t blame William for that answer but I personally would love to add the Travis’s to my collection of Air Force 1s. In Chicago there’s a AF100 popup going on this weekend at RSVP Gallery which will host the release of the collection and also the opportunity to customize your own Air Force 1s. The month of November started strong and ended strong for the sneaker community.
