Excited for Thanksgiving?

Written by: Breanna Beck

Thanksgiving is often devalued because people are always looking forward to Christmas. Christmas is always a special time of year but giving thanks is important too. Enjoy the leaves and the cool cozy weather! People forget that Thanksgiving’s’ true meaning is to not only be grateful for what you have but giving back to others who don’t have as much. It gives you warm feelings when you spend time with your loved ones and are surrounded with nothing but love! It is important that you get involved because there are so many activities that you can participate in. You can try volunteering, delivering meals, play board games, or even having a family football game! Every year I go to my grandparents’ house and share many laughs. Turkey is one of my favorite foods to have at my family dinner!

I asked, Leah Jackson ‘18, about her favorite food for Thanksgiving and why she was excited. She said that “Her favorite thanksgiving food is either peach cobbler or honey baked ham.” She emphasized the fact that she will be able to “eat until she passes out” and she will get a chance to see her brothers and friends from out of town. I hope that everyone enjoys the holiday and get an opportunity to be around nothing but love and joy. Make sure you say what you are grateful for this year and don’t forget to help others less fortunate.
