This past weekend (Nov. 4-5th) we witnessed the highly anticipated ComplexCon and it definitely lived up to the hype. If you don’t know what ComplexCon is, it is a fest setting where there’s a bunch activities like fashion companies, panel talks, and performances. Some names from last year’s amazing event included Takashi Murakami, Pharrell, Snoop Dogg, and the Migos. The lineup this year was included the likes of Virgil Abloh, Pharrell Williams, Takashi Murakami, Jaden Smith, Gucci Mane, DJ Khaled, Kendrick Lamar, Kobe Bryant, and more.There were conversations and panels about money, culture, streetwear, and the biggest conversation of the all, “Sneaker of the Year.” One of the most important highlights from the event came from N.E.R.D. They performed Lemon, a new track that features Rihanna and completely stole the show. N.E.R.D fan Tyree Beard ‘18 said that “It was amazing seeing the return of N.E.R.D and it was definitely unexpected. I’m excited to see them back together again and I can’t wait to see what new music is in store.”

Another highlight of the event was the exclusive customization option offered by the OFF-WHITE fashion brand. At their booth they allowed people on a first come first serve basis to customize t-shirts. There was a long line that featured angry and anxious individuals. They had good reason to be anxious because the t-shirts immediately retained the resell value of at least $500. The highlight for sneaker lovers was the exclusive release of the Patent Leather Jordan 1. The release a huge surprise and alongside the exclusive release of the N.E.R.D Adidas Human Race sneaker. Will Jamison ‘18, a huge fan of the sneaker, said “I wish I was there at the event. ComplexCon was hypebeast central and I would’ve enjoyed the opportunity to at least have a chance to cop the Human Race.” Overall the second ComplexCon was amazing offering so much to do and it really set the tone for a yearly fest that everyone in culture wishes that they could be at.
