Whitney Young Takes Chicago Scholars

Evan Wimberly

Several Whitney Young students took part in this year’s Chicago Scholars Onsite Admission program. At this onsite, seniors are able to apply to universities early and get interviews with those various schools. There are many schools at this onsite admission such as Washington University of St. Louis, University of the Chicago, Stanford University, Georgetown University among others. All of the Whitney Young students loved and enjoyed the once in a lifetime opportunity. Christian Lovett ‘18 said “I was really happy to be able to speak on myself with admissions officers at this site. I’m more confident with my ability to get into those schools.” It was a full day affair on Tuesday, October 24th. The students were there at 7:45 am for registration and some stayed as late as 6:00 pm. Tiffany Gradzki ‘18 said, “It was a really, long day but it was worth it!” Several students were honored with onsite acceptance into some of their colleges. Mikol Tsopnang ‘18 was one of those lucky seniors, who said “I’m going to college!!!!” after being accepted to Indiana University. Overall, it was a great time for the students, as they played music and games in their down time between interviews and most seemed overjoyed leaving the venue. Great Job Seniors and congrats to the many who were accepted into colleges on that day!!
