Bowling has been here at Whitney Young since the 1970’s. The team is under the direction of Coach Abrams and Coach Stewart who stepped down from coaching the girls team. I talked to Coach Stewart and asked her about her thoughts or anything she has to say about the team this year. She said, “Good luck to Coach Geiger on their new season! I wish them the best of luck and hope they can continue the success that I built with them!”

Right now the boys’ season has gotten under way with this being their 6th season now! I recently talked to one of the boys a part of the program, Marco Garcia ‘18, and I asked him the expectations for the team and their season. “The bowling team is looking forward to a big season being led by the captains Terki Perkins ‘18 and Tommy Hayes ‘19. We have good competition this year against Morgan Park but we as a team believe that we can pull off the big win.” The boys have a match November 8th against Lindbloom at 4:20 at Bluebird Lanes. Be sure to check them out this year on their journey for a City Championship.

The Girls Bowling team is getting ready to start their season as well. The girls have tryouts on November 13th at UIC Lanes at 4:00. If any girls are interested in trying out for the program, be sure to be at the tryouts on the 13th!
