Girl’s Varsity Tennis- Sectional All-Stars

This past weekend our Girl’s Varsity Tennis team came through with a strong win during the IHSA State Sectionals. This win came as no surprise since, just a week before, the team won the City Championships. Ania Szydlowski ‘20, a member of the JV Tennis team, witnessed both events. She said, “I never doubted the team once and I knew that we would lead to victory. Many seniors on the team experienced several personal victories. Sarah Williams ‘18, an injured 4-year Varsity player, mentioned ,“I felt as if the ball was in my court and I came to take care of my business. I was really proud of myself for pushing through though.”

Clearly nothing was going to stop these girls on their journey to success. Another touching moment I experienced  with a member of the team was with Camryn Salter ‘18. She is the Varsity captain and she shared how she felt about her recent accomplishments. She said, “I’m so proud of my team and all that we have accomplished this season. It’s a little bittersweet because it’s my last year but I am so confident that my team will only grow stronger.” I’m sure every senior on a sport can relate to Camryn’s sentimentality on some level.
