Coach Franken resigns from coaching!

Justin Boyd

Coach Franken recently resigned from coaching the Boys Football team. Two weeks ago the news of the football team season was cancelled as we all heard. This was a big deal for the school because a lot of students relied on the sport to be able to put themselves in line for scholarships to play at the college they would like to attend.

I recently talked to one of the students who was a part of the football team, LeMark Russell ‘18, about his thoughts on his former coach resigning from coaching. “Personally I feel Franken is a good coach, he knows the game of football very well and always pushed me to be better. I think he did the wrong thing by resigning but if he wants to resign, let him.”

Football was an impactful sport at Whitney Young and a lot of good things came from this sport under the direction of Coach Franken. He sent students to school to advance their education careers and athletic careers and now with him resigning football will not be the same as it use to be. We wish Coach Franken the best and hope he is still a big impact for students at Whitney Young.
