Free the MEME

This has been an eventful week at Whitney Young. We started off with everyone’s favorite, PJ day! It was truly a sleepy day with everyone wearing their comfiest garments. Terrie Briggs literally brought her bed with her! (pic below) This was a strong start to an amazing week.

Twin day came next and honestly I felt like I was seeing double. There’s always that one funny group of seniors who go beyond the call; last year they dressed up as bananas; this year they all wore rompers, or should I say romp”hims.” There were a  lot of laughs and we all seemed to really like their look.

Next came Workout Wednesday, I don’t think I saw anyone that wasn’t ready to go to the gym. Whether they were rocking Adidas, Nike, or even an off name brand, everyone was looking fly.

Blue and Orange day came early this year as usually we have it on Friday. You know that everyone was showing off their school spirit. No one wanted to be spotted without colors, as Dr. Kenner said she would chase anyone who wasn’t seen with the school colors.  WE TOOK THE W with a 3-0 win at the soccer field.

Even though it was a great week,,many seniors are sad that class color day and the dance is separate and Gabby Lukanus, a senior here at Whitney Young, noted,  “I’m surprised so many people dressed up for meme day  because in years past the Hoco game marked the end of spirit week.” But even she couldn’t help but dressing up (photo below). There are many memes and some are really put together with a whole Kermit the Frog judging you.

We came together as a school this week even though the schedule got switched around. Whether you dressed up in romp”him” or wore the same socks as someone else everyone added a bit of pizzaz to the week and made is a memorable Hoco. #ShouldABeenADolphin
