The girls volleyball team is having an amazing start to their season. As of now, they are 18-3 (W-L) and are undefeated in their conference. This feat is especially impressive considering the quality of competition of volleyball in Illinois.

The team is looking very solid. All of their losses have come from tournament play, one of came against the previous state champions, Mother McAuley. The Lady Dolphins gave them everything they could handle.

Led by their seniors Maya Popernik (Outside), Brooklyn Irvin (Setter), and Leah Stevenson (Libero), the Lady Dolphins look to defend their city championship title and make a long and successful state run. Brooke Irvin ’18, has this to say about the season, “The seniors have come up big in our last couple of matches combined with efforts from juniors Atieno Hope and Anya Korbut.” Each of these three seniors are D1 bound, with Maya Popernik committing to Bryant University. Brooklyn Irvin committing to Hampton University. Leah Stevenson is currently ranked as the #1 Libero in Illinois on MaxPreps, a high school athlete site. They should be very proud of the amazing season they’re having so far.
