Soccer takes over the Homecoming game

Recently, we were informed that the football season here at whitney young has been cancelled for the rest of the year because of excessive blowout losses. Therefore, in time for the homecoming game on Thursday, soccer took over, and was called to play at the game instead as a substitution for football. Many students were very upset by this change, and some even refused to go to the game, most likely because they have never heard of a soccer team playing in a homecoming game and didn’t like the idea of it. Despite the situation, a majority of the student body still did attend the game, and the soccer team ended up beating Curie in an intense two hours of back and forth play.  Yocelen Pina ‘19, a member of the girls’ soccer team really enjoyed the game and said it was “One of the best homecoming games I’d ever been to, and we should do it again next year.” Overall the boys played really well, and a lot of students even agreed that it was pretty entertaining to watch, and seeing how well the team was doing caused their skepticism to dissipate. If we end up having to cancel football season all together and have soccer play at the homecoming game every year, would you welcome the idea or would you prefer to continue the traditional way and  have football team continue to play at the game?
