Beyoncé to donate proceeds from new remix of “Mi Gente” to Puerto Rico, Mexico

As all of us have heard, Mexico, Puerto Rico, and other islands are struggling to handle the damage from recent hurricanes. I’m sure we’ve all also heard of Donald Trump struggling to help these countries and places in need. Someone who is not struggling to do so, however, is Beyoncé, who recently featured on a remix of a song, and vowed to donate all proceeds to those in need of help from the devastation caused by mother nature.

In the song Mi Gente by J. Balvin and Willy William, Beyoncé jumps in to add a new twist and feeling to the piece. She even switched up her usual routine of singing or rapping in English, as her part in the song is in Spanish. She made this switch up to support those affected by the recent hurricanes who are not receiving proper help, which is also why she decided to donate the money she makes off of the song to them. She adds an exciting and new feeling to a hit song people have already loved this year.

Many people are very excited about this move by Beyoncé, and are enjoying the new music as well. Zachary Cho ‘18, said, “I am really glad [Beyoncé] decided to help those who are not being helped otherwise. I have always loved her as a person, and this just adds to her résumé. Aside from that, I love the new remix to the song, too.” If you want to hear some new music and help those in need of power, food, and other resources, go buy Mi Gente (feat. Beyoncé) by J. Balvin and Willy William on iTunes, as all proceeds go to those in Mexico and the islands that were affected. You can also help by donating by clicking here.
