On Friday, September 8, 2017, 19 year old Kenneka Jenkins was reported missing by a group of her friends after they discovered she was not with them in the Crown-Plaza Hotel. Sunday morning her body was found in the walk-in freezer on the lower level of the hotel. Speculation continues to go around as to whether or not she was forced into the freezer or if she was intoxicated enough to wander into the freezer and become trapped inside. There is a viral video on Facebook showing her friends at the party and different rumors have emerged from the video. Some thought they heard Jenkins in the background saying “help me” or a discussion amongst the friends about the rape of Jenkins with boys who were invited to the party. Recently, there was a local activist who said that he has viewed security video from the hotel that shows Jenkins going into the freezer with no one else in sight. The police are conducting a toxicology report on whether or not Jenkins was drugged at the party or not. The mysterious death has WY students concerned and  chagrined. Veronica Perkins ‘18 says, “The whole situation is just sad and ridiculous, that could’ve been anybody’s daughter or son and it’s just not right.” Our prayers go out to Kenneka’s family and friends. #JusticeForKenneka
