The Golfin’ Dolphins are looking to become back-to-back city champions in this 2017-2018 season. The pre-season started on Wednesday, August 16, 2017 at The Den in Bloomington, Illinois where our very own Sam Mortell, ‘21, placed third place in the lowest overall score category. The Dolphins played in many more invitationals and tournaments, leaving their mark on the courses around the state. This year’s team is comprised of three seniors, two juniors, four sophomores, and two freshmen.

The official CPS season started on Wednesday, September 13, 2017. The match was against Northside College Prep at Robert A. Black Golf Course. The team secured their first win of the CPS season, beating Northside with a score of 157-200. Thomas Hayes, 19, received the honor for shooting the lowest with a score of 36.

Everyone is excited for the rest of this season as the Golfin’ Dolphins try to go undefeated. Patrick Timlin, ‘18, is optimistic about the future of the season. He says, “making it down state this year as a team should not be difficult. We have a great team this year with two new additions. Even though we lost Marcellus Dillard, ‘17, we gained two great players that will help the team as much as he did.”

The team will work very hard this year to achieve their goals and win the first City Championship of many for Whitney Young’s 2017-2018 season.
