Top 5 Natural Hair Essentials

Carol’s Daughter Black Vanilla Leave-In Conditioner

This leave-in conditioner is the works. Even for super thick hair, this spray will leave your curls feeling moisturized and most importantly, smelling amazing. A word of caution, with this spray, less is more. It does its job with at most five spritzes to your crown, just be careful to not overdo it.

Argan Oil Eco Styler Gel

I like to use this Eco Styler Gel over the other scents because this one smells significantly better than the others. But that’s just me. The other scents hold a curl just as well as this one, and it all goes down to preference. This product (actually, any Eco Styler Gel) is a must have for any naturalista.

Denman Brush

For the most defined twist outs and braid outs, I seriously recommend a Denman Brush. On first glance, it looks like it will rip you curls out, but it will not when you use it. This brush will evenly distribute product through sections of hair and even define and clump your curls. I like to pair this with Eco Styler Gel, just for that super curly and well defined look.

Olive Oil (or any essential oil, really)

Olive Oil, Coconut Oil, Avocado Oil, Grapeseed Oil, they all have their own serious perks. It truly takes experimentation to figure out which one works best for you hair and your style needs. Olive oil is great for conditioning, coconut oil is a great source of protein, avocado oil is a great fatty acid oil, and grapeseed oil is pretty much olive oil but much lighter and without the scent. You can’t go wrong with any of them.

Spray bottle

Spray bottles are a necessary addition to any natural hair routine. Rather than fully wetting your hair, you can just spray it to the dampness that you need to finish your style. You can get them from anywhere, but I say get a full sized bottle that is heavy duty where you can mix anything inside.
