From genuine  golf lovers to our googley eyed grandmothers, Tiger Woods  has graced everyone with his impecable form and spirit for years. . The famed golfer has inspired, dedicated, and conquered. Now, it is time for a new innovative  to arise.

From the southside of Chicago, Marcellus Dillard always dreamed of attending the famed Whitney Young. After graduating Chicago Laboratory Schools in 2013, he got his wish. Now being a senior, Dillard has a new journey to embark on, but of course he is more than ready. The vast culture and opportunities he has experienced here at Whitney Young have truly “prepared him for the next steps”. The first two weeks into high school, Marcellus says he met a support system and family that has had his back ever since. He’s partied, studying, committed, had fun, had faults, and surely has grown.

With a 4.3 GPA, he has always set the standard for WY student athletes. Marcellus Dillard, led the golf team to yet  another City Championship in 2016. The bright and bushy tailed senior has gone on an unprecedented run after what he called a “disappointing Junior season.”  In a record-smashing fall, Dillard went undefeated in every tournament and match he played, and continued that excellence into the spring. He broke a score of 80 countless times, consistently beating personal and city records. His talent is unprecedented, and he will continue to soar with his journey in college. Next year he will be attending the historic HBCU, Florida A&M University to study golf and economics. This full board and tuition scholarship has given him many opportunities. He believes college will be “one big Whitney Young”, and he is more than prepared for that.
