App Review: Cartwheel

April Gonzales, Staff Reporter

People have their days when they have to go shopping. Remember back when customers had to hunt down coupons in newspapers and catalogs? I don’t either. Since technology is the main direction many head towards, the well-known retail store, Target, has an app worth the shopping. Introducing Cartwheel by Target!

Target released this application in order to help shoppers save money when purchasing necessities. Cartwheel organizes its items in categories such as nursery and groceries. The more categories, the easier it is to find what you need to save money! “Target is a god,” said Sonia Muzemil ‘17. The app also have a recommendations list for you after you’ve used a coupon for a item such as drinks. And when you start to use the app more often, it displays how much you have saved while using the application.

The only catch with Cartwheel is that not everything is on sale. Just like the coupons in the paper catalogs, Target has sales on specific products in store. In the end, one can always find a good deal. “Oh hey, it’s an app,” says Braulio Cornejo 19’, “I mean, it’s pretty cool if you go to Target regularly but it’s not very useful, otherwise it’s just an app. It would be cooler if you could buy stuff by scanning it and not having to wait in line to pay.”

Everyone using Cartwheel can also connect with their friends via Facebook. The app displays your friends that use the apps and how much they have saved. Connecting with people gives a good opportunity to spend time together at Target and save money! Alumni Yesenia Bucio ‘16 stated, “It seems like a pretty useful app. It’s a lot easier to use than going to the website to look for discounts for sure and the coupons displayed are pretty good in my opinion.” Cartwheel can be a very useful app for people in search to save money and saving money can be especially beneficial.
