Transit Stop: An App Review

Arriving seconds late to a CTA station only to see your train or bus pulling away can be both incredibly frustrating, and more importantly, time consuming. Thousands of Chicago commuters experience situations like these on a daily basis. Fortunately, there is an app that can eliminate this nuisance. Transit Stop is a CTA tracker app that gives users quick and accurate information on arrival times to every train and bus station city wide. No longer do you have to worry about just missing your ride or even waiting at the station for too long. Released on the App Store in 2014 by Kramer Concepts, LLC, Transit Stop has a 4+ star rating and is completely free.

Transit Stop is certainly gaining ground at Whitney M. Young Magnet High School, a popular Chicago Public School. Lilly Holmes (‘17) said: “the Transit Stop app has definitely helped me get to the train before school on time, every time.” Since downloading the app, Holmes noted “fewer tardies to her first period class and fewer missed trains.” She can also now maximize her time before leaving her house in the morning through using the app to check when the next Brown Line trains will be arriving.

As more Young students download the app they are finding their before and after school commutes becoming much more efficient. Gabi Saul (‘17), a three year user of the app, said: “knowing when the Brown and Purple line trains are coming makes transferring off of the Red line much less stressful.” She talked about how having accurate information on whether or not a transfer train will be arriving at Fullerton influences her to stay on her current train to Belmont and cut down time.

Users without a doubt seem to benefit from Transit Stop. The app has proven to shape the way we use and manage public transportation making for shorter commutes and less frustration. If you are someone seeking to optimize your way to school or work, look no further than the App Store and download this incredible app.
