Barack Obama: The Icon

Barack Hussein Obama II is a politician who became the first black president of the United States of America. He has become an influential part of the the world specifically, many discriminated minorities of the United States of America, with many acts, bills, and simply through the way he carried himself as president.

For example, he passed more landmark legislation than any other Democratic president. His administration passed significant acts for minorities and immigrants, including his big “Obamacare” Act and gay rights. The naming of same-sex marriage bans being unconstitutional led to many new marriages in the past few years. Thus on many lists he was named in the top 20 presidents in history on many sites. He also did things to prevent the financial crisis of 2007-08 from ever occurring again. He also secured the “don’t ask, don’t tell” policy for LGB people in order for them to serve in the military without being ridiculed. He even made it much easier for immigrants to become citizens with the Dream Act. This act stated that if a person was born here, they are citizens of the United States of America.

Barack Obama has become an icon to many people across the world, specifically in the United States. Throughout, his presidency he had no marriage scandals, which seems to be very common to many presidents. Michelle and Barack have become fantastic ambassadors for our country.Although, throughout his presidency he was rejected by his peers in the White House, he was still the same kind man. Oftentimes he was helped by his wife Michelle, in order to ignore many hanus comments thrown his way. Even the bills and laws he passed were criticized by large amounts of people but it never brought his character down.

Barack Obama is the President many high school students today grew up with. He is truly an icon to this generation, with his pure class and kindness to help youth. He made history while in office, not just for being elected, but for the legislation passed and the work he did in office. For that, he will always be remembered.
