J Cole announces Tour!

Jermaine Lamarr Cole, better known as J. Cole, is one of many notable artists in today’s music industry. Known as a Lyrical Genius, he was the first artist to be signed under Roc Nation, an American entertainment company founded by the infamous rapper Jay Z. He was born on January 28,1985  in the 97th General hospital at a United States Army base in Frankfurt,Germany. He was later raised in Fayetteville, North Carolina with his mother and older brother. His father left to serve in the United States Army. He became the first artist in 25 years to go platinum without features. He was nominated for many awards including Lyricist of the year (2012-2016), MVP of the year (2012-2014), and Producer of the year (2012-2014). He was also nominated for best Mixtape (“Friday Night Lights”-2011), Best impact tracks (“Crooked Smile”-2013 & “Love Yourz”-2016), Best Live Performer (2015), top nominated Album and Album of the year (“2014 Forest Hills Drive”-2015), and he went on to claim victory over all of these titles. So far in his career he has released a total of 4 albums and 4 mixtapes, which have in the past, dominated billboard charts. Just last year, he released his 4th Studio album “4 Your Eyez Only” (December 9,2016). This album is a track-by-track story of the life of one of Cole’s close friends. It follows his experiences growing up and encountering bad situations from selling drugs to falling in love and having a child. The last track, 4 Your Eyez Only revealed that this close friend had died,and the album symbolized a tape that was created for his daughter to listen to after he is gone.Hence, the title. Along with this album, Cole released a 40 minute documentary entitled Eyez, which features behind the scenes footage of the process behind creating it. The album was released exactly 2 years after his previous album, and it debuted at number one on the US Billboard 200 in its first week, which earned Cole his 4th consecutive number-one album in the country. It also sold 363,000 its first week and there were 2.7 million tweets mentioning this album between December 7-December 19,2016. On January 12,2017 this album was certified Gold by the Recording Industry Association of America. As of today, February 21,2017, J Cole has announced that he will be doing a 57 date world tour in support of this album.
