Keep an eye out for Whitney Young’s Harmonyx! Harmonyx is the school’s singing group. The club gets together to sing their favorite songs and perform at WY. “If you love to sing, this is the club you should be in!” says Zaria Brim ‘18, a member of Harmonyx.

The club started five years ago when a group of individuals decided to get together and perform modern day pop songs. They began to gain more members and have continued to sing pop songs. In addition to their annual spring show, they have set up a winter show and recently performed at last month’s Coffeehouse. Members have been including more genres and now they sing a variety of songs.

The members who have been a big part of the club have put in their time out of school to practice lyrics and choreography to have an excellent performance. “I fell in love with Harmonyx when I fell in love with the people and felt like I belong. Everyone in Harmonyx is so nice and we all work so well with each other,” says Alexa Soto, ‘18, yet another member of the club.

Last year, they performed in Blue House for the winter show. In June, Harmonyx set up a themed show: Spectrum. They sang a set of songs that revolve around color and imagery. Each performance has made a huge difference to the people who have joined this club. Vice President, Mia Smith ‘18 states, “It is a club that I have enjoyed being a part of and it has taken up a big part of my high school career, allowing me to make friends that will last far past senior year.”

For anyone interested in being a part of Harmonyx and their dedication to performing, the club meeting takes place in the choir room, 196, every Monday and Friday. Auditions for the spring show are also going to be held February 2-4. Alexa also mentions, “It’s fun to sing, but it’s better to sing with people you love. We have come a long way and I am so proud of our success.” For those whose passion is singing and performing, then Harmonyx is the place to be!
