WY’s fall play opened on Dec. 4th. “She Kills Monsters” by Qui Nguyen takes place in Athens, Ohio in 1995. It follows the story Agnes Evans who lived a very average life until one day her parents and her younger sister, Tilly, die in a car accident. When cleaning up her childhood home, Agnes finds a Dungeon and Dragons notebook Tilly left behind. Through Dungeons and Dragons, Agnes gets a small picture of who her sister really was.

Here’s another example of WY putting on a spectacular show. The acting and stage combat were well executed. The costumes, language, and music were all representative of the time period (i.e Loser by Beck). The set was detailed and creative.

This play successfully touches on very real issues for high schoolers, such as sexuality, bullying, and relationships. It  was unexpectedly poignant.

Though the play does touch on serious topics, it is chock full of hilarious innuendos and action packed scenes. Agnes Evans, played by Amanda Hoyne (‘16), and Tilly Evans, played by Margaret Smith (‘19), are believable as sisters with their well delivered witty banter. Recurrent appearances by Adventurer Steve, played by Declan Bigger (‘18), brought about a crowd pleasing comic relief. Performances by the entire cast were engaging and energetic. It’s a show you don’t want to miss.

Be sure to check out the play before it closes! See it Dec. 10th @ 5pm, Dec. 11th at 7pm, and Saturday, Dec.12th at 2pm or 7pm.
