A discovery by NASA scientists might finally answer the question on whether the possibility on other planets. NASA’s Mars Exploration Rover Curiosity found evidence of liquid water below Mars’ surface at the Gale Crater in early April.

This discovery will further lead NASA’s research into understanding how water has contributed to the environment on Mars. Although the information is enlightening, scientists say that if life existed on Mars, it most likely died at least one billion years ago.

Recent research by NASA scientists hypothesize that Mars once could have had a body of water larger than Earth’s Arctic Ocean, according to NASA.gov.

Mars is currently plagued by incredibly high levels of radiation, but the rover continues to examine Mars’ surface for more discoveries and how ancient environmental conditions evolved to what they are today.
