Kentucky tops list of possible march madness champions

1. Kentucky – they have 8 future NBA draft picks, so they’re easily the most talented team in college basketball. The Harrison twins (Andrew and Aaron), Willey Cauley-Stein, and Dakari Johnson are all key contributors who have had at least two years of college experience and will be ready for the pressure in March. Devin Booker lights it up from three while Trey Lyles plays like a veteran and Tyler Ulis is a lightning rod off the bench. Karl Towns is also making his case to be a top 3 NBA pick come June. They have the number one defense in the country and have the highest average height. They’re the only undefeated team left.

2. Duke- led by arguably the best player in college basketball, Jahlil Okafor, the Cameron Crazies hope this is the year that they get to cut down the nets. Their big three of Jahlil Okafor, Tyus Jones, and Justise Winslow in addition to older players such as Quinn Cook should be able to get them far in the tourney. They’re the only team that can match Kentucky’s star power.

3. Wisconsin- Wisconsin brought back almost all of their key contributors from their Final Four Run last year. Frank Kaminsky is in the running for National Player of the year and Sam Dekkier is a whole two inches taller than he was last year. They’re experienced, they play together, and they’re Badgers.

4. Kansas- Rock, chalk, JAYHAWK! People will be skeptical of this pick due to their early losses to fellow contender Kentucky and likely second place of the Big 12, Iowa State, but they are turning the corner. Frank Mason III is leading this team while Kelly Oubre is taking the reins on offense. Cliff Alexander is providing valuable minutes off the bench, and they’ve been a tough out for all of their opponents. They play in the best conference, the Big 12, which could possibly send 8 teams to the tourney. Kansas is currently at the top of the Big 12 in wins and they’re continuing to roll over teams and gaining the teamwork and confidence needed to make a deep run.
