My favorite educational website is Khan Academy. Khan Academy is a free set of online tools that helps educate students. The Khan organization creates and publishes short lessons and videos. Khan Academy also includes practice exercises and materials for educators and students. Khan Academy is organized by grade level and by subject. Allowing students to find the lessons they need with ease. Khan Academy also helps set a schedule for students based on their school’s curriculum. Depending on the pacing the student’s school takes, Khan matches it by suggesting the amount of time or practice lessons a student should take. With every lesson, Khan creates and publishes an educational video explaining how to do the work. The lesson also includes explanations after every question. “Khan Academy is very easy to use and my students love it too. It is a great source for them and helps teaching lessons easier,” says Robyn Brandon, teacher and tutor for Sylvan Learning

My favorite part of Khan Academy besides the educational videos and practice questions is its ability to connect with CollegeBoard. The connection to CollegeBoard helps students know what they need to work on based on their SAT/PSAT scores. Khan is the perfect website to make sure your student is on the right track to score high on the SAT and ACT. “I used Khan to study for my SAT. I’m glad I did because I never knew I needed to work on fractions before Khan informed me. I began working on them immediately and increased my math score on the SAT. Khan gave me the much needed practice,” says Jalen Elms, ‘21. Students use Khan to study for the SAT and ACT, but also use it to study for tests and practice the curriculum they learned in school. “Khan helps me do my homework when I don’t fully understand the lesson. I am also able to use the practice questions to prepare for tests,” says Aaron Long, ‘23. Add a comment below, the Beacon would love to hear your favorite educational website.
