Are You Ready to Go Back to School?

Trinton Moore

How long have we been in virtual learning, one year two? I often think back to think back to in person school. Waking up at 6:15 in the morning and walking about a block to catch the bus. Then sitting on the bus ride for fifteen  minutes and then catching the Blue Line train afterward to get to school. Now I can barely get myself to crawl out of my bed at 8:00 am to walk about 5 feet to my desk to just sit in front of my computer with my webcam off. I mean, I was barely able to manage with the old virtual learning schedule of waking up at 9:00 am. I do not think I am the only one facing this problem, Benjamin Stoddart, Whitney Young ‘21notes  “I don’t know how I was able to wake up at 6;00 in the morning to catch the bus and train. I just cant imagine myself doing that now.” Over quarantine my body and mind has become lazy. I envy my past self for being able to do the things that I as able to do

I think I can speak for most of us when saying that I am tired of virtual learning. Jack Fleck W’22 “I’m tired of online learning. I hate staring at my screen”  I’m tired of staring at my screen for hours on end. I’m tired of joining breakout rooms and sitting in silence for 30 minutes straight because no one wants to talk.  I think when push comes to shove I can force myself to wake up at 6:15 am again. I mean I miss in person school. When I think back to it, I feel like I took it for granted.

I think we are all ready for school. I think we can handle going back to school. Waking up before the sunrise. Going to eight  different classes in one day. Sean ’21 says, “I think I can force myself to wake up at 6:00 in the morning. I think my brain can handle it. I will be tired but I can manage.. I believe that our brains can handle it. I think that by all of us missing it, we will be able to handle the hardships that come with in person school.
