Exercise of the Week: Lunges

If you’re looking for an exercise to get faster, jump higher, or simply look better, the lunge is the exercise for you. Lunges are an uncomplicated, but highly effective exercise that anyone can master by following there easy steps.


  • Start by standing up straight at rest. lunges 3
  • Take one step as far forward as you can without lifting the heel of your other foot.

  • Lower your hips until your front knee is bent to approximately a 90 degree angle and lightly touch your back knee to the ground. To do this move safely, your front knee should not move past your ankle. This takes the pressure off of the knee joints when standing back up.

  • Explode back up to your starting position.
  • While performing this exercise you should try to do as many reps as possible in 3 sets of 30 seconds, with 1 minute of rest in between. As you perform this exercise more often, try to increase the speed of the action for each set or perform the action for longer periods of time.
