SAT TESTING FOR SENIORS

Jonathan Napoles

On Wednesday, August 23rd, 2020 Whitney Young Seniors took one of the biggest steps towards applying for colleges. For the first time during its closure in March of early 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Whitney M. Young Magnet High School opens its doors for students to take the infamous SAT test. The SAT test is one of the most important aspects of applying for college and can really alter a student’s future and determine whether or not they will be successful in the application process. “It’s nerve-racking, but it’s something that needs to be done and I’m glad Whitney Young is giving us this opportunity because due to Corona it’s been kinda hard to take it anywhere,” says Zachary Kocinski ‘21, a senior at Whitney Young. Although many schools are not requiring either the SAT or ACT tests for their application process, some schools are still requiring it despite the struggles some students are experiencing due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Alex Ng’21, a senior at Whitney Young, proclaimed that “Some of these colleges are very inconsiderate to the situation around us. Due to corona, test sites have canceled the SAT and ACT tests I signed up for, but I’m glad our school is giving us this opportunity.”. After students took the test, many were pretty happy with their performance, “I feel like I did pretty good” said Bianca Munoz ‘21, another senior at Whitney Young, “the whole process was pretty long but I was happy to see some friends and feel pretty confident about the outcome of the test.” Hopefully, all the seniors feel pretty confident about their scores as well. Good luck to all the seniors applying for early admission college applications this November as everyone at Whitney Young wishes you the best of luck.
