Netflix has announced a new series coming during the holiday season, Selena, which is coming out on December 4th. Selena’s biography has been told before. Her rise to stardom has been portrayed in the film Selena: the movie starring Jennifer Lopez and is now being retold for the second time but as a series. The series stars a bunch of familiar faces, including former The Walking Dead actress Christian Serratos, and current On my Block Julio Macias. People who aren’t that familiar with the singer are getting excited “ I know people love her, so this is an exciting new series. That I know a lot of people will enjoy and I hope Netflix gets it right.” notes Kayla Cain ‘21. 

Netflix has recently been coming out with new documentary series but they haven’t been living up to some viewers expectations, viewers such as Miriam Centeno ‘11 says “I’m always super excited about a new Netflix documentary but recently they have been kind of a letdown.” This series will sure do one thing though, and that brings old and new fans of Selena together to get the chance to relive her story once more. A lot of her fans who got to experience her rise to fame are counting down the days to watch it fans like Rachel Romero ‘09 “ I remember listening to her music while on my way to school, and when she passed away it was so shocking. Hopefully, I can feel the joy I felt listening to her music again by watching the series.” All I know is that so many people are counting down the days to see Selena shine on screen once again.
